Privacy Policy
Ibaloi Translator is a free educational tool for the Ibaloi language. We try to collect as little data as possible, and we're explicit about what we do collect, why, and where it goes.
1. Summary (for people who don't read full privacy policies)
- Offline features are private. The dictionary, word search, favorites, history, literal translator, phrase book, and grammar guide all run on your device. Nothing you type in those features leaves your device.
- The online translator tier is the only feature that sends your text off-device. It's optional, opt-in, and requires Google sign-in. When you use it, your input sentence is sent to Cloud API for translation.
- We do not store the text you translate. We only count how many characters you translate per day, to enforce the free daily quota.
- Anonymous analytics. We use cookieless Vercel Analytics to count page views and unique visitors. No personal data, no tracking across sites.
- No ads, no ad tracking, no data selling. Ever.
2. What we collect and why
Account data (only if you sign in)
If you sign in with Google to use the online translator, we store:
- Your Google account name and email address (from the Google OAuth response).
- A session token so we can verify your identity on subsequent requests.
- A daily character counter for the quota.
We use this data only to enforce the free daily online-translation quota and to let you know which account is signed in. We do not use it for marketing, profiling, or any other purpose.
Translation input (online tier only)
When you submit a sentence through the online translator, the raw text of your sentence is sent to Cloud to produce the translation. This is necessary for the feature to function.
We do not store the text you translate. We only count the characters against your daily quota and discard the text after the response is returned. Our server logs record the length of the request and the outcome, not the content.
Offline features (local only)
Your search queries, favorite entries, recent search history, and translator input on the offline tiers are stored only on your device via browser local storage (on web) or AsyncStorage (on mobile). They never leave your device. Clearing your browser storage or reinstalling the app erases them.
Anonymous analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and unique visitors. Vercel Analytics is cookieless, does not track you across sites, and does not collect personally identifying information. (vercel.com/docs/analytics/privacy-policy)
Feedback submissions
The "Give feedback" button opens your device's email app with a pre-filled draft. No data is sent automatically — you review and send it yourself. Whatever you include in that email (category, description, optional name/email) arrives at jbcgrafik@yahoo.com and is used only to improve the dictionary and app.
3. Third-party services we rely on
- Google Sign-In — for account authentication on the online tier. Subject to Google's privacy policy.
- Cloud API — for online translation. We do not send your translation text to any other provider.
- Vercel — hosts the website and serverless API functions. Subject to Vercel's privacy policy.
- Vercel Web Analytics — anonymous page-view counting. Cookieless.
We do not share your data with any other third parties, and we do not sell data to anyone.
4. Cookies
Ibaloi Translator does not use tracking cookies. Google Sign-In may set a session cookie when you sign in, which is limited to authentication. Vercel Analytics is cookieless by design.
5. Data retention
- Daily character counts reset at midnight UTC each day.
- Sign-in sessions expire after a fixed period of inactivity.
- Your Google account record (name, email) is retained while your account is active. If you want your account deleted, email jbcgrafik@yahoo.com and we will remove it.
- We do not retain the text of translations — only character counts.
6. Your rights
Under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act 10173 of the Philippines) and equivalent laws in most jurisdictions, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact jbcgrafik@yahoo.com. We will respond within a reasonable time.
7. Children
Ibaloi Translator is not targeted at children under 13. The offline features are safe for children to use; the online tier requires a Google account, which has its own age requirements. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects what we collect or how we use it, we will update the "Effective" date at the top and — for signed-in users — show a notice in-app on your next visit.
9. Contact
Questions about this policy, data-deletion requests, or privacy concerns should be sent to jbcgrafik@yahoo.com.
