Privacy Policy

Effective 2026-06-02 · Ibaloi Translator

Ibaloi Translator is a free educational tool for the Ibaloi language. We try to collect as little data as possible, and we're explicit about what we do collect, why, and where it goes.

1. Summary (for people who don't read full privacy policies)

2. What we collect and why

On-device features (local only)

Your search queries, favorite entries, recent search history, translator input, and all dictionary content are stored only on your device via browser local storage (on web) or AsyncStorage (on mobile). They never leave your device. Clearing your browser storage or reinstalling the app erases them. The dictionary, translator, and grammar reference do not contact any server while you use them.

Anonymous analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and unique visitors. Vercel Analytics is cookieless, does not track you across sites, and does not collect personally identifying information. (vercel.com/docs/analytics/privacy-policy)

The website also sends a single anonymous event called tier_won each time the translator returns a result. The payload is one integer that names which translator tier matched your query (for example, regex template, dictionary example, or literal gloss) — it does not include the query text, the translation output, or any identifier for you or your device. We use the aggregate to check whether dictionary growth is shifting more queries onto higher-quality tiers; the count is not readable per-user. The iOS and Android apps send no analytics events at all.

Feedback submissions

The in-app "Give feedback" form sends your submission to our own server endpoint (/api/feedback, hosted on Vercel), which then forwards the message as email to jbcgrafik@gmail.com through the Web3Forms API (web3forms.com). We route through our own server so the Web3Forms access key stays private and so we can rate-limit abuse. The submission includes: the feedback category you selected, any context pre-filled by the app (e.g. the headword or sentence you were viewing), your description, and — only if you fill them in — your name and email. The name and email fields are optional; you can submit feedback completely anonymously. To prevent spam and abuse, our server logs a truncated form of your IP address alongside the request (for example, the final group of an IPv4 address is zeroed); it does not store the full address. The message then transits through Web3Forms, which is subject to its own privacy policy. We use feedback only to improve the dictionary and app.

3. Third-party services we rely on

We do not share your data with any other third parties, and we do not sell data to anyone.

4. Cookies

Ibaloi Translator does not use tracking cookies. Vercel Analytics is cookieless by design.

5. Data retention

6. Your rights

Under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act 10173 of the Philippines) and equivalent laws in most jurisdictions, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact jbcgrafik@gmail.com. We will respond within a reasonable time.

7. Children

Ibaloi Translator is not targeted at children under 13, but the app's offline features are safe for children to use as a language-learning reference. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that materially affects what we collect or how we use it, we will update the "Effective" date at the top of this document. If the app adds features that collect new categories of data (for example, an online translation tier that sends text off-device), we will update this policy and surface the change in the app before the feature is enabled.

9. Contact

Questions about this policy, data-deletion requests, or privacy concerns should be sent to jbcgrafik@gmail.com.
